About this project

Designing a cutting edge facility that is focused on sustainability and safety. In collaboration Cubby Construction Ltd, we embarked on the construction of a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility near Carlisle Airport. The project aimed to establish a new headquarters, featuring office and workshop spaces, along with a parts warehouse and storage yard. The design and construction focused on creating a modern and efficient space for the sale and servicing of forestry vehicles and equipment.

CLIENT OBJECTIVES

Komatsu Forest Ltd UK desired a cutting-edge facility that would serve as their primary hub for vehicle sales and servicing. The client’s vision included a spacious office, workshop, and warehouse equipped with advanced technologies, energy-efficient systems, and a commitment to safety in the forestry industry. The project aimed to showcase Komatsu’s dedication to the local community and the broader UK forest industry.

 

OUR SOLUTION

Pettit Singleton Associates, responsible for the full Mechanical and Electrical Design, collaborated closely with the client and design team. The comprehensive design incorporated :

  • Utilities and infrastructure enhancements throughout the site
  • Building Management System (BMS)
  • Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) comfort cooling
  • Specialised vehicle extract systems
  • Compressed air installations
  • LED lighting and DALI lighting control system
  • Full building addressable fire alarm system
  • Data and telephone systems
  • Security and CCTV systems
  • Electric vehicle charging
  • Solar photovoltaic system (42kWp)

The design prioritised sustainability, safety, and operational efficiency.

 

THE OUTCOME

The project achieved its goals of constructing a modern, purpose-built facility that aligns with Komatsu Forest Ltd UK’s values and commitment to the local community and the UK forest industry. The collaboration between Pettit Singleton Associates and Cubby Construction Ltd resulted in a successful project.
