Eden Valley Hospice

About this project

Hospice creates uplifting environment to improve children’s wellbeing. At Eden Valley Hospice, we transformed the children’s area into a vibrant, separate space from the adult wards. Our team designed and installed innovative M&E services for four new bedrooms and a dedicated entrance. Key features include fibre optic mood lighting, accessible bathrooms, and customised bed head services. The £500k project, funded by the sale of a Banksy painting, was completed on time and has significantly enhanced the comfort and wellbeing of young patients.

CLIENT OBJECTIVES

Eden Valley Hospice approached us with a vision to revitalise their children’s area. They had secured funding from the sale of a Banksy painting and were keen to create a space that was distinct from the adult wards. The client’s primary focus was on developing an uplifting and enjoyable environment for the children. They emphasised the importance of aesthetics, accessibility, and comfort in the new design, aiming to provide a nurturing atmosphere for young patients and their families.

OUR SOLUTION

Our team at PSA took on the challenge of designing new mechanical and electrical services for four bedrooms and a separate entrance for the children’s area. We installed state-of-the-art fibre optic mood lighting in the bedrooms, creating a captivating night sky effect that children could control via a mobile app. This interactive feature was designed to make the hospital stay more engaging and promote a relaxed environment. We also completely redesigned the bathrooms to improve accessibility for disabled patients. Additionally, we developed custom bed head services, incorporating easy-to-use controls for lighting and nurse call buttons, putting comfort and convenience at the children’s fingertips.

Design included:

  • Heating, Ventilation and Cooling
  • Plumbing
  • Fibre optic mood lighting
  • Bed head services
  • Nurse call buttons
