Our Culture & Values

PSA - Our Culture

Since 1989, it’s been our mission to do things differently, wanting to create an ethical practice focussed on delivering excellence for our clients. PSA aims to serve our clients by helping them achieve their goals.

Now, one of the biggest Mechanical and Electrical design teams in the North West, we’re still going strong and always looking to improve.

Why choose PSA

Be part of something good: Help us show people what modern construction can be.

Make your mark: Your ideas and work will have a real impact on important projects.

Get support when you need it: Our managers are here to help, not to breathe down your neck.

Give something back: We care about our community and get involved in local initiatives.

Working at PSA

Learning and development

Whether you are fresh out of school or a seasoned professional, there’s a learning path for you. We’ve been supporting Degree Apprenticeships for 30 years and have a culture of continuous learning through a CPD programme of events.

Shape your own path

We’re small enough to be flexible, your career can grow in the direction you want it to. With the changing landscape there are always new opportunities for us to grow into.

Life happens

We understand the pressures of modern life and aim to be accommodating to our people’s needs with a hybrid working environment.

Close knit team

Relationships in and out of the office continue to be the life force at PSA. We support each other as we do our clients and everyone we work with.

We like to have a laugh

From social events to charity challenges there’s always something fun to get involved with.

We value our people

Our team is what makes PSA what it is. Through training and continuous learning opportunities we help our people grow and succeed.

PSA Academy

Our biggest and proudest achievement at PSA is the team we’ve built. Our people are what make PSA what it is; they enable us to deliver work at the highest levels of excellence and create a great working environment. The better everyone gets along, the easier the work flows. Part of that is ensuring everyone is working towards their own personal goals. Learning & development is one of the top key values we hold. It’s the reason why we have five engineers currently studying for their degree apprenticeship and why we hold weekly CPD events. The knowledge and skill we hold as a team are what sets us apart.

Personalised Learning

Over the years, we’ve developed a robust learning programme at PSA. Everyone who comes into the business—whether for school work experience, college placement, as a trainee, or senior manager—goes through some level of learning programme. This marries together academic learning with practical application and the soft skills needed to competently liaise with clients and in on-site situations.

Continuous Professional Development

Continuous learning and staying ahead of the curve means we can serve our clients in the best possible way. It means we have the knowledge to guide clients on the best solutions at all times. To do this, we have a consistent CPD programme from external suppliers and training providers. This is also a requirement for CIBSE and other professional bodies of which all our engineers are members.

Our Values

Excellence – We exceed expectations

At PSA, we pride ourselves on thinking holistically about each project. Our commitment is not to meet the client’s expectations but to exceed them. We understand that a satisfied client is not just a testament to our technical proficiency but a reflection of the positive impact we aim to make on every aspect of their experience with us.

Innovation – We are one step ahead

Our dedication to constant innovation sets us apart. We don’t just keep up with industry trends; we stay one step ahead. PSA is committed to providing cutting-edge solutions that anticipate the evolving needs of our clients. We view each project as an opportunity to showcase our forward-thinking approach and deliver outcomes that stand the test of time.

Learning – We develop the next generation

As stewards of the engineering profession, we are passionate about training and developing the next generation of engineers. We recognise the growing skills gap in the industry and are determined to bridge it. Through mentorship, training programs, Apprenticeships and a commitment to lifelong learning, we aim to create a legacy that extends beyond our projects.

Teamwork – We support each other

At PSA we believe that by fostering a collaborative environment, we not only enhance the quality of our work but also create a community where individuals thrive. Within our team, there is a shared ethos of looking after one another – a genuine dedication to being there for support, guidance, and encouragement.

Social Value

At PSA, we are deeply committed to making a positive impact beyond our core business. This year, we’ve demonstrated our dedication to social value through substantial charitable contributions, raising over £6,000 for meaningful causes. Our team has been active in community support, participating in events like the Cross Bay Walk for Baby Beat and Walk the Big One for Shelter, while also supporting local organisations such as Zoe’s Place and food bank initiatives.

Our commitment to community involvement reflects our belief that successful businesses have a responsibility to give back and support the communities in which we operate.
