Refurbishment project for the iconic Leyland Trucks. Leyland Trucks, a historic name in British automotive manufacturing, embarked on an expansion project at their Lancashire facility. PSA, leveraging our expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering, partnered with Leyland to transform its office space. The project encompassed adding a new floor to existing offices, refurbishing current spaces, and enhancing amenities for staff and visitors. Our team worked closely with the client’s management, building on our previous successful collaboration, to deliver a £6 million upgrade that would support its growth and modernise its workplace.
CLIENT: Leyland Trucks / Peccar Parts
VALUE: £6m
LOCATION: Leyland, Lancashire
SERVICES: Mechanical & Electrical Design
CLIENT OBJECTIVES
Leyland Trucks sought to expand and modernise its office facilities to accommodate growth and improve working conditions for its staff. The client required additional office space, an extended staff restaurant, upgraded toilets, a new medical centre, and a dedicated conference and visitor’s centre. The challenge was to integrate these improvements seamlessly with existing two-storey office building, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations producing 50 trucks per day.
OUR SOLUTION
Our team at PSA designed a comprehensive solution to the third floor of the existing office building while simultaneously refurbishing the lower floors. We carefully planned the mechanical and electrical systems to support the new layout and enhanced facilities. Working closely with our client’s management team, we developed a phased approach to minimise disruption. Our designs incorporated:
- Energy-efficient systems
- Heating, ventilation and cooling
- Lighting & power
- Data & telephony
- Safety & security systems
Throughout the 52-week project, we maintained open communication channels with the client, ensuring needs were met at every stage.
THE OUTCOME
The completed project provided Leyland Trucks with a significantly improved and expanded office environment. The new third floor increased their available space, while the refurbished lower floors and enhanced amenities boosted staff morale and productivity. The modern conference and visitors centre now showcases Leyland Truck’s rich heritage and current capabilities to clients and partners, supporting their business development efforts.
