Expansion of primary school to accommodate growing numbers. PSA were employed as part of the design team to undertake the full mechanical and electrical design for the expansion of a primary school site to accommodate growing student numbers. By crafting a comprehensive Mechanical and Electrical design, we transformed the space to include new classrooms, meeting rooms, a library, and more. The result is a vibrant, modernised environment where both students and staff can thrive.

CLIENT OBJECTIVES
Pennine Way School, which sits within the Harraby Campus, a community space that includes a school, nursery, community centre, theatre, café and sports centre, sought to expand the existing primary school to better serve an increasing student numbers. With more children enrolling, it was essential to create additional classrooms and support spaces, ensuring that the school could maintain its high standards of education. There was also a need to upgrade the existing Building Management System and the electrical switch panel due to age and condition.
OUR SOLUTION
PSA was employed as part of the design team to provide a full mechanical and electrical design for the school’s new extension. The works involved three new classrooms, additional meeting rooms, a library, expanded office space, and upgraded pupil WCs. A central atrium corridor was integrated into the design, providing a bright, open pathway that connects the new spaces. This design not only maximised the use of available space but also created a more cohesive and functional layout that aligns with the school’s needs.
The project required the services to be diverted to enable the construction work to be completed. We diverted the incoming electrical supply and kitchen gas supply. The work was undertaken out of hours and carefully coordinated with the rest of
