CLIENT OBJECTIVES

The Lakeland Motor Museum team envisioned creating a facility to showcase their vast collection of automotive displays. They sought a partner who could help upgrade the historic “Dolly Blue” factory while incorporating modern amenities. The museum needed a design that would not only preserve their exhibits but also enhance the visitor experience. They wanted a space that could tell the story of motoring history through innovative displays, comfortable facilities, and energy-efficient systems.

OUR SOLUTION

Our team at PSA began with a detailed survey of the existing building, carefully planning how to merge the old with the new. Our design incorporated a sustainable woodchip boiler plant, creating an eco-friendly heating solution. We crafted a bespoke display lighting system to showcase each exhibit in its best light. The design also included a fully-equipped kitchen and restaurant area for visitors to refuel after their visit. To enhance the exhibition we installed a centralised audio-visual system, allowing for interactive and engaging displays throughout the museum.

THE OUTCOME

The blend of historical architecture and modern technology has created an immersive experience that visitors of all ages can enjoy. The energy-efficient systems we implemented have significantly reduced operating costs, allowing the museum to invest more in their collection and educational programmes.
